My name is Gundi and I appreciate you taking the time to read my story. It is humbling to have to ask for help and I am not even sure where to start. But here I go… I have 3 children and 7 incredible grandchildren. My daughter, Haley, is my youngest. She is 34 and has 3 beautiful, energetic kiddos: Maverick (2 y/o), Daphne (4 y/o) and Jackson (12 y/o). They certainly keep us on our toes and bring light to each day! Haley was diagnosed with MS in 2010. We were able to manage it up until early 2024 but then the flare-ups started. They were ruthless and over the next year, we saw many doctors with hopes of making them stop. Haley’s physical health slowly declined and by June 2024 she had completely lost the use of her legs. In addition to her legs, she is now legally blind, has lost feeling in her hands/feet, is in severe pain constantly, and her bladder is not working as it should. She is doing a fantastic job of being a mom, fighting through all this daily with a smile on her face for her kid's sake. The heartbreaking reality is that these symptoms are manageable but not completely, if at all, reversible. She is receiving the Ocrevus infusion to prevent further growth of the disease and we are hopeful it is working. We have applied for disability, and have been denied, multiple times throughout 2-years, but we do not give up and keep reapplying. We hired an attorney but that has not helped. We have a very limited, fixed income and are grateful for the social security I receive as well as help from family. My son lives in NJ and my other daughter is going through treatment for breast cancer, so I take care of Haley and the kids on my own the majority of the time. My siblings, their families, and friends have been generous and are willing to help whenever needed. However, now we need a different type of help. We desperately need to make Haley’s home more accessible and functional for her, providing a better quality of life while we battle this disease. I cannot lift her or help her move from one spot to another without it sometimes taking hours (and lots of tears). Haley’s knees are destroyed from crawling, she has pressure sores that are giving us trouble, she stays “beat up” (for lack of better words) from trying to transfer from one spot to another and is fighting to stay positive each day. We are raising money for items such as hydraulic lifts (for in-home and vehicle), ramps for entryways, hospital-style bed, various items ranging from medical supplies to special clothing. We have a wheelchair that my brother was generous enough to get for her (thank you Scott!). Anything you can contribute financially will be welcomed. If you cannot help at this time, a share with your family and friends would mean the world to us. And, of course, we sure need prayers. Thank you for whatever you can do. One of my favorite quotes: I trust that God wouldn’t give me more than I can handle. I just wish he didn’t have such faith in me. – Mother Teresa Thank you so much...
