We recently received devastating news about our beloved, 17-month old Emmett: he has been diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of Leukemia called KRAS-Positive Mycloproliferative Neoplasm with NUP98 Fusion. Emmett's platelet count is alarmingly low at just 8, and the leukemia cells have already made their way into his blood. As a result, he's had to be immediately admitted to Phoenix Children's Hospital (PCH) to begin treatment. Emmett and his twin sister, Evie, are the absolute light of our lives. As you can imagine, we are grappling with this unimaginable new reality no child or family should ever have to endure. However, we remain steadfast and determined to fight alongside our brave little warrior every step of the way. Our journey at the hospital is expected to last approximately one month during this initial round of chemotherapy. First steps will involve a repeat bone marrow biopsy, as well as the placement of a broviac line, which will provide semi-permanent IV access for his treatments. Ultimately, he will require a bone marrow transplant to give him the best chance of survival and a healthy future. Emmett's strength and resilience continue to inspire us every day, and we firmly believe in the power of love, support, and collective goodwill. As we prepare for our extended stay at Phoenix Children's Hospital and face the uncertainty of what lies ahead, we ask for your financial assistance.
