Gehrig lives and breathes trains, especially steam trains. He loves science, crafts, reading, playing Lego and he also has life threatening food allergies. He is allergic to 6 of the top 9 food allergens, meaning he can’t eat any peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, soy, wheat, or milk. A bite of cheese or the wrong kind of cookie could send him to the ER with anaphylaxis- a severe allergic reaction resulting in the body going into shock and potentially resulting in death. That’s a big deal for a ten-year-old to have to think about all the time. We want Gehrig to be able to have a full and carefree life without these big worries hanging over him. We want him to be able to go to birthday parties without fear of the cupcakes or family potlucks without having to constantly think about his safety around the potato salad. We want him to be able to eventually go on a date and have a first kiss without having to ask what the person ate earlier that day. Wanting all of this, we finally found a cure through an allergy program only available in Southern California. We are raising money for TIP (Total Immersion Protocol), a program that offers a safe future for Gehrig. He will be in this program for 5 years with 5-6 appointments every year. We need help covering the cost of flights for Gehrig and his dad as they fly cross country to California multiple times each year, overnight hotel stays each visit, rental cars, the cost of the program itself, lab work, and the various medications and specialty foods that go along with it every year at a cost of approximately $20,000 per year. Any donation is appreciated. Even a small amount when added together will add up and help Gehrig achieve food freedom. Thank you for your contribution and support!
