My name is Keren (Kay) Kassanda and I am raising money to support my grandparent's visa costs and travels from the Democratic Republic of Congo to the UK to enable them to attend my graduation in Oxford. As a consequence of moving countries, being in Care and being financially dependent on the Care system, I have been separated and not been able to see my grandparents, the most important people in my life, for the past decade. My graduation ceremony to celebrate the end of my university journey is coming up in November and I have dreamed for years now, to have my grandparents by my side to celebrate this moment (which at times I never thought would happen). Though I believed I could have raised all the funds necessary for my grandparent's travels by myself by working and paying for everything this way, the cost of applying for two visiting visas, and the travel expenses for two return tickets from the DRC to London are proving incredibly expensive. Despite my savings, I cannot stretch myself enough to pay for both applications, travel and accommodation expenses by myself. Rather than giving up on my hope to reunite with my grandparents and have them at my graduation, I am reaching out to anyone who might find it in their heart to consider donating to this fundraiser to help me reunite with my grandparents, just for a week or so. I have spent the last 10 years away from the people that mean the entire to me, and I just want a few days with them in which I can celebrate my graduation with them, and celebrate them for being the most wonderful humans I have ever known. Any help at all would be so greatly appreciated, I would be eternally grateful for the rest of my life.
