Hi Everyone, This is Hannah, Francine's youngest daughter. It's been heavy on our hearts to share the news, but we feel it's best to share early to gather as much support as we can get. On Tuesday, July 11th, my mom underwent abdominal surgery & was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She has already been fighting this battle for many weeks; the surgeons were unable to remove the mass until now because of an infection that she developed. She fought that infection to get here today, and we are grateful to finally have a diagnosis. But we felt our world completely shatter. The bedrock of our family, the one we all turn to for advice and the one we rely on when something's gone wrong, my mom is the most selfless person I know. She is always there for everyone - she's the meal maker, birthday cake baker, donating to every cause, reaching out to support anyone in need, the Christmas elf that makes our holidays special, the most forgiving, loyal, incredible friend you will ever have. We have been praying harder than we ever have, and asking God "why?" My mom currently remains hospitalized in Philly (at Penn) because she is having surgical complications from removal of the large tumor. We have met with a great oncology team, but much of her diagnosis remains unknown as we await pathology to see if the cancer has metastasized, meaning spread to other parts of her body. We can't develop a specific treatment plan beyond "chemo" until we get those results. For those of you that are lucky enough to know my mom, you know that she is extremely strong willed, and fierce, and she fully intends on fighting this with everything she has! She is 62 years young, & she was working full time up until this tumor had taken her out. She is a loving wife, mom, and Mimi to a large number of grandchildren that I've lost count of! She is desperately needed by our family and we are gearing up for the fight of our lives. She won't be alone. She's never asked for help from anyone, so I'm asking for her.
