My family is putting this LFEBridge together in hopes of getting financial support for my little sister, Rieydah, as she is being hospitalized in Iowa City Children's Hospital. 10 years ago Rieydah was diagnosed with Germinoma cancer and had surgery as well as radiation to remove her tumor (in brain). She was also diagnosed with diabetes insipidis which requires daily medication and frequent lab visits to make sure her sodium is in a good range. Since then she has struggled with her health and is now currently dealing with another serious medical emergency. She has been in PICU but is now moved onto the floors. She is suffering from confusion, memory loss, delirium, and has needed 2 blood transfusions due to her hemoglobin dropping. She had a breathing tube while in her medically induced coma but does not have it anymore since her body progressed with breathing on her own. Later there were complications again and she needed to be on oxygen. She has had several MRI's done, Petscans, bone marrow tests, platelet replacements, glucose monitoring, etc. It has been about 4 months now and there are still no answers. We feel that the hospital has exhausted all their resources and are at a loss as to what to do next. We would like for her to be transferred to Mayo Clinic, which is in Minnesota. Iowa City has been in contact with them and has sent over her records and they would be willing to take her but have no available beds. It would be the best option for her as the hospital is well equipped to handle many medical emergencies and she deserves the best care possible. We are hoping she will be accepted there. My mother has been back and forth constantly, since she lives in Dubuque and also has other younger children to care for. This is an extremely scary situation for her and our family and the finances on top of it all brings another level of stress. Any help would be greatly appreciated, going toward gas, food, and hopefully a transfer of hospitals. Rieydah has always been such a bright light for many people and her smile and optimism leaves an impression on anyone she crosses paths with. She is a gifted artist and loved to give drawings and paintings to friends, family, as well as anyone she just met. She is a faith driven young woman and always put others first. It is her turn to be uplifted and supported during this hard time..Please help us with getting her the best care and eventually back home ❤️
