I have set up this Go Fund Me in support of my nephew, Luke. Luke is a busy, friendly and complicated 8 year old. He struggles with self regulation due to his disabilities and as a result his home life with his family has become unmanageable, unsafe and unsustainable. Luke has recently completed a three week observation and assessment program at Vancouver Children’s Hospital. He has returned home with a list of diagnoses, suggested treatments and no practical support. My sister, Brenda has been advocating for Luke to receive the services he so desperately needs and is coming up blank with every resource due to budget constraints and impossible wait lists. Until the funding becomes available, the only way to support his complex needs is to obtain private therapy. This is just not achievable on Brenda’s single income. As a family we are doing whatever we can to support Luke’s needs but it is just not enough. We are desperate to get him what he needs to begin to create some peace and calm for Luke’s mind and spirit. It is so hard to ask for help and it feels so vulnerable for Brenda to put out into the world the depth of the struggle. We are doing so because immediate intervention is so important to Luke’s well-being. If you are able to help, please consider contributing to Luke’s intensive therapy and support needs. The money would go directly towards support for Luke and to provide for the therapies that are so badly needed for his immediate health and safety and for setting him up with the skills he will need for a successful future.
