Update 7/29/2024 I wanted to give a quick update on dad. His surgery overall was a SUCCESS with NO surprises, THANK THE GOOD LORD ABOVE! He still has a VERY long road of recovery ahead of him & can use ALL of the continued prayers & good vibes being sent his way. Which we as a family are so very grateful for. Mom got him signed up & paid for the COBRA insurance which is running about $800/month but we are thankful to have health coverage for him no matter the cost. They mentioned maybe setting up his feeding tube today so that is fantastic news! He has several weeks worth of hospital recovery ahead and more months of at home recovery. He is in pain as expected but he is alive, talking & they even had him up walking yesterday, ALL amazing things through the power of Christ! Again, we appreciate every single one of you who have donated to help with bills & just life necessities, to those of you sending prayers & positive words & to everyone who has reached out. Our family is so overwhelmed with your thoughtfulness & generosity. I will post another update in a few days. We LOVE you all & thank you again and again. <3 Brittany My name is Brittany, daughter to David & Laurie Spall. My dad at age 17 in 1990 met my mom when I was only 6months old. Almost immediately he stepped up & became MY Dad. They married in 1992 and have lived a very full beautiful life with alot of ups and downs along the way. He is the hardest working man I've ever known, only having to call in to work ONCE my whole 32 years of life. This man has worked from before he was legally old enough to make sure he could make a good life for himself. Which he accomplished, raising myself and my brother Cameron Spall along side my Mom. It hasn't always been easy but he ALWAYS made sure we had everything we needed and some. Sacrificing alot long the way. We were hit with the most devastating news at that time any of us could handle in February of this year. Dad had been having problems eating & swallowing for a few months and went to get seen. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer. My mom's whole world fell apart. He is all she has known for the last 32 years. Her provider, her shelter, the father to her kids and the Papaw to their 5 beautiful grandchildren. HIM getting sick is something we NEVER imagined possible. Not MY dad... His doctors recommend he take approximately 6 months off of work to do chemo and radiation in attempts to shrink the tumor. He did that and by the grace of God was approved to have the major 8 hour long surgery to remove part of his esophagus upon other things, scheduled for Thursday July 27th. The day before his 51st birthday. Today, on Monday July 24th he spoke with the HR department at his job at Estes and was informed his "12 week FMLA" had ran out and he was no longer an employee at Estes. Somewhere lines got crossed, miscommunication and he wasn't on Short Term Disability like he was told or thought. My mom has been doing Jewelry Sales trying her absolute best to do whatever necessary to keep their house and home afloat financially. She is not one to ever ask for help SO I AM. They need all the help, financially & spiritually they can get right now. My dad has 3 days before this major surgery and lost his medical insurance & the weekly 40% of his income. ANYTHING WILL HELP. The mortgage still will be due, the car payments, the utilities and so on... I have considered starting a fundraiser for months but hadn't done one, against my mothers wishes but now is the time. I want him to be able to have his surgery, spend the 12 days or more in the hospital to recover and not have to worry if his house and life is falling apart. So please I am basically begging, please share this, everyday if you can! There is no savings as he has ALWAYS worked paycheck to paycheck to get by and provide. Be it little or small, any donations that can be made we will be forever grateful for. Prayers are just as much needed right now and for the future. We will make it through this with our God on our side. They just need some help right now so they can breathe and so my dad can HEAL. Thank you! **ALL donations will be directly put into their banking account!!**
