Aloha, This campaign has been started to help an important wahine in our paddling community during her time in need. Our wahine, who shall remain anonymous for the time being, has suffered a great ordeal this past week. Prior to this week, her abuser has been financially hurting her while he and his daughter lived in HER home. On July 12, Henderson Police and Fire were called to assist in the physical abuse and barricade situation. Here are the charges that would have been filed: •Domestic Battery by Strangulation •Coercion w/Force or Threat of Force •Assault w/Deadly Weapon •Battery to Commit Sex Assault •Resulting in Substantial Bodily Harm •Convicted Person Fail to Register w/ Law Enforcement within 48 hours The suspect was arrested but later died in Police custody after taking a lot of prescription medication prior to the arrest. We humbly ask anyone who is able, to assist our sister in being able to cover medical costs and other bills such as mortgage payments, utilities, etc. This wahine is an amazing mother, grandmother, friend and paddler who always gives her all. She is always present, always willing to help in every capacity and now it's our turn to take care. She will be out of work for an undetermined amount of time and will need all the love, aloha and support. Let us all rise together as a village to see her through this most difficult time.
