Update: Baby boy is home now! After 10 days in the NICU we are all finally under the same roof. He is going to need continued checkups from MUSC throughout his life to make sure he is hitting his milestones. We thank you for all your continued support for hospital bills for baby boy and Julie. Julie has made it through surgery. Ended up going in a day before because the baby was having deceleration in its heart rate. Baby Boy is in the NICU for monitoring of his blood oxygen levels and also on a EKG to keep track of any seizures he may have. He is being kept cold to help him heal. He will have to be there for 4 to 5 days. Your continuing to keep mom and baby in your thoughts and prayers is greatly appreciated. Anthony and Julie met in 2017 in Colorado. Their common love of the Buffalo Bills and Food and Beverage brought them together. They moved to Charleston in 2024 and married in 2024. Everything was perfect. Last summer they suffered a miscarriage. After months of trying they were finally blessed with their Rainbow baby. At their 20-week ultrasound, they started hearing the words Vasa previa. This occurs when unprotected fetal blood vessels run through the amniotic membranes and covers the cervix. Vasa previa remains a hidden, rare complication that occurs approximately in 1/2,500 pregnancies. Because of the high risk, Julie was admitted to the hospital at 33 weeks and will need to deliver at 35 weeks. Babies born at 35 weeks are considered late-term premies. Thankfully MUSC has one of the best mother-baby units in the country and it is right here in Charleston. We are hopeful that Baby U will be perfect and not need to spend any time in the NICU. However, there are a lot of factors that will determine those decisions. These donations will go to helping to pay for the medical bills that were not expected while they are starting a family. Covering the cost of a two-week hospital stay, testing and ultrasounds. Any donations are greatly appreciated by not only Anthony and Julie but their families as well during this difficult time.
