Hi there! My name is Dahlia. You might also know me as Possum. And if you know me, chances are pretty good that you know Bertha! Bertha has been my van since the spring of 2024, when I bought her just in time to not go on tour when the world shut down. Since then, Bertha’s been damn near everything to me. I was living in her for the second half of 2024 when my housing fell through. She’s taken me from coast to coast, on innumerable trips and tours. Currently, she’s been my daily driver to see friends and family, help out in the communities that I’m a part of, move gear for my three bands to practices and shows, and to get to work and back. In the fall, she was to be the tour vehicle for Dry Ice and Rotten Reputation, who we have two-week long tours planned for in August and September respectively. Unfortunately, she had her catalytic converter stolen this spring, and as such has been inoperable for about a quarter of this year. Without proper vehicular transportation, I am somewhat cordoned off from my friends, and have been unable to secure better opportunities that would allow me to leave my current $15 an hour job (which has also been putting me behind on rent every month, but that’s not what this fundraiser is about). What we’re asking for is $2,100. The $100 to cover the cost of LFEBridge’s fees, and the $2,000 to go into getting Bertha a new Colorado Compliant catalytic converter (these babies usually run about $1,500 without installation labor) and any leftover funds will be used to get her registered and street legal for Colorado (she’s got WY license plates that are just a little out of date at the moment, and like me, the existence of insurance is debatable). If there’s any donations to be utilized after that, it will be used on any other repairs bertha might need, such as a new windshield, transmission maintenance, brake tuneup, and perhaps even a decent car wash/vacuuming spa day. Time is unfortunately a bit of the essence here, as we’d have to get her all ready by the time Dry Ice leaves on August 3rd, but literally anything helps. If we weren’t fundraising for Bertha, we’ve be fundraising for two different tour vans for the two different bands, and this seems like a much better option, not to mention being able to get back out and help the folks around me who might need transpo, resource distribution, or any manner of good a decent van can do. Thank you for reading this, and for donating. I know it’s not the biggest most grand cause, but it is helping a broke trans woman get back on her feet, and hopefully Bertha can help you in kind someday soon <3
