Our friend Farmer is facing serious car trouble and needs our help. Farmer has made a gigantic change in his life, quitting a good job in a small town in Nevada to move to the big city of San Francisco, which is no small task. Luckily, Farmer was able to find an apartment quickly, and recently started a new job working for SF Parks & Recreation. But before Farmer saw his second paycheck, tragedy struck in the form of a Tow Truck. San Francisco Police noticed that his Nevada car registration had expired, and impounded his vehicle on June 29. The police estimate it will cost over $2,000 for Farmer to get his car released and legal to drive in California. Farmer is facing extra penalties on top of $1000 in towing fees because his car registration is over 10 days expired, as well as extra charges for transferring the registration from another state while expired, in addition to daily car storage fees which are quickly adding up. Since he just started his new job, Farmer does not have the money to cover this sudden expense, and has asked the community for help. Farmer needs his car not only to get to his new job, which requires he travel to various SF parks all across the city, but also to continue volunteering at the Haight Ashbury Food Program as a delivery driver, and to do all the errands that being the volunteer construction manager at Comfort & Joy requires. For many years Farmer has dedicated himself to building community in countless ways. He’s literally saved people’s lives as a volunteer firefighter, and saved many people’s property with emergency repairs when pipes have broken. There are many other examples anyone who knows Farmer can remember clearly. If you appreciate all the good things that Farmer has done for other people over the years, now is the time to show it with a donation of any size, small or large. With our help, Farmer can avoid hundreds of dollars of additional tow yard storage fees if he can raise the money to free his car quickly. Once his car is released, he will need to get it smogged and pay for any associated repairs needed to make his car California legal. Please consider helping our mutual friend by making a donation TODAY. Thank you!
