Hi Friends, Thank you so much for caring! It's been a while since we updated you on the journey of the V-S family. Here's the link to the first campaign which tells the whole story of how we got where we are https://gofund.me/6abf31a6. We are grateful to those who helped us reach that first goal. We hope those who can will give again or share the link on your social media. We are enjoying life together here in DC. The photo was taken on July 4 when we went to the end our street to watch the fireworks. The most important thing to happen is that we hired an experienced asylum attorney and the case has been filed. Whether we win or lose, the cost is $8000. The document translation fees alone were $700. (Not a bad business to get into!) Whatever you can give will help immensely as we manage the extensive costs of supporting this wonderful family of 5. The parents are not yet able to earn any income. The attorney told us the fastest way to get legal employment documents is to wait 150 days (5 months) after the asylum case has been filed, then they can join a class action lawsuit that is turning the applications around quickly after that! (We could have applied for such documents on our own without waiting 150 days but are told the wait times for the applications to be processed are up to 13 months!) The financial help we are giving them now is not a loan but a grant, a gift we can share. Your donations help us to help them until the time they are able to support themselves. Thank you so much for your partnership! They know they are experiencing the power of love working through people to people. Take care, Ruth and Brian
