Ericka Brown-Peterson is a vibrant, down-to-earth 43-year-old woman who has always believed in being proactive about her health. However, on January 28, 2024, her world was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with stage IVb colorectal cancer with metastasis. This devastating news came after a long year of battling anemia and having her concerns dismissed by her primary care physician (PCP). In 2024, Ericka's PCP discovered she was anemic and attributed it to her diet. Ericka, however, felt that something more sinister was going on, given the way she felt. Despite her insistence, her concerns were overlooked for over a year. It wasn't until she required iron infusions that her doctor finally referred her for a colonoscopy, which revealed a malignant tumor as the cause of her anemia. Tragically, by the time of her diagnosis, the cancer had already spread to her lungs and liver. The doctors, in disbelief, kept repeating, "But you are so young." Now, Ericka is undergoing chemotherapy treatments and is unable to work due to her condition. The financial burden of her medical expenses is overwhelming and includes not only hospital bills but also medication, doctor consultations, and medical tests. Additionally, she faces a $10,000 deductible and other out-of-pocket expenses with her insurance. To make matters worse, her living expenses – mortgage, groceries, and utilities – continue to pile up. Having exhausted her savings and with no other sources of financial support available, Ericka is in desperate need of assistance to cover her mounting expenses. This LFEBridge campaign aims to alleviate some financial stress and allow Ericka to focus on her battle against cancer. We are reaching out to the community to ask for your support in helping Ericka during this incredibly challenging time. Please consider donating to Ericka’s fund to help cover her medical and living expenses during this incredibly challenging time. Any amount, no matter how small, will make a significant difference and will be deeply appreciated. In the face of this adversity, Ericka remains committed to helping others. She has pledged that any funds raised beyond her needs will be paid forward to other cancer patients facing similar circumstances. Together, we can support Ericka in her fight against cancer and help her pay it forward to others in need. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
