Their adorable and vibrant 2-year-old daughter, Ellie, has been diagnosed with an inoperable, infiltrating glioma (brain tumor). As you can imagine, this devastating news has turned their world upside down, and we’re humbly requesting your assistance to alleviate the financial burden that accompanies the long journey ahead. Together, we can make an impact and help the Castillo’s find solace and hope during this extremely difficult chapter in their lives. Ellie is a cheerful ray of sunshine who immediately captures the hearts of everyone she meets. She has a smile that brightens every room she walks in. She loves playing with her big brother, Austin, taking care of her baby dolls, and dressing up in anything pink. Unfortunately, this sweet soul has been confronted with a diagnosis that no child should ever have to face. She’s already shown great resilience after undergoing two brain surgeries, multiple tests, and an extended hospital stay. The brain tumor is currently causing clumsiness and balance issues that affect Ellie’s mobility, and she’s now requiring weekly physical and occupational therapy to help maintain and foster the skills required to be as independent as possible. She’s also starting targeted chemotherapy treatments (that the insurance company is refusing to pay for) and will eventually require proton radiation therapy that will entail DAILY treatments in the Texas Medical Center for a minimum of 30 days. The toll that Ellie’s diagnosis has had on her family is immeasurable, but their unwavering love and determination to fight for her life is awe-inspiring. Ellie and her family have already displayed extraordinary strength and resilience throughout this trying time, but as you can imagine, the emotional, physical, and financial toll of dealing with such a devastating diagnosis is immense. Mike and Jessica face the arduous task of providing the best possible care for their baby girl while also maintaining some semblance of normalcy for Ellie and Austin. They’re also shouldering the burden of medical expenses, hospital visits, and the associated costs of ongoing treatment, with no foreseeable end in sight, yet.
