Ok guys, let me start by saying thank you all a million times for all of the fundraising, donations and hard work you all have put into helping us get to Chicago the first go around. Our friends and family are amazing and we are truly blessed to have you all in our lives. So here is the deal from here on out. Don will be going on Medicare to cover 80% of the cost of the procedure. We will be searching for a supplemental plan to cover the additional 20%. As you all know, he will be back and forth from Florida to Chicago for 2 months. We will need help with the cost of airlines, transportation, food, hotel, parking, rental car, gas, and copay for medictions while he is there. We learned from the last trip that Chicago is expensive! We do not have a schedule yet but he has definitely been ACCEPTED for the stem cell transplant. This will not be part of the original study that we applied for. He is being treated as a compassion case because although Dr. Burt feels like he has gone into secondary progressive, Dr. Balabanov feels like he is right there on the cusp and that he can be helped through this treatment. I've put together a rough and dirty draft of what is to come for Don once the appt is set.......3 days of pretesting in Chicago2 weeks homeReturn to Chicago for 1st round of chemotherapy (2 days in the hospital) Begin 6 days of Neupogen shots (this drug stimulates the growth of white blood cells in your body).Day 6 of shots he will get a catheter in his neck for stem cell harvest. Stem cells collected and catheter removed2 weeks homeBegin iv steroid treatment and physical therapyReturn to Chicago Picc line placed in arm and 2nd round of chemotherapy for 5 days. STEM CELL TRANSPLANT DAY4 days later more Neupogen shots and physical therapy. Pray everything goes well and possibly return home 12 days after transplant!!Please help us anyway you can. No donation is too small. We hate asking for money but the result is going to be amazing! First and foremost I want to say thank you to our Lord Jesus for making all of this happen. I can assure you that this reconsideration does not just happen. This was very clearly a miracle. God moved this mountain for us and he has already paved the path to go smoothly for Donald. Thanks again everyone. We love you all.
