My name is Deneb Nicole McCoy, and this is my friend Dana Lapointe who is very dear to my heart. A kind-hearted man, Dana has been able to weather so much hardship in his life. He has never had much in the way of material things, but he has always done what he could to help those with even less than he has, from stray cats and dogs to homeless people. Now, he needs help. Dana needs a total tooth extraction (all his teeth need to be removed). In their place he will need full upper and lower dentures. At this point, his situation is so dire that he cannot chew solid foods. He is subsisting on soups, smoothies, milk, V-8 Juice, scrambled eggs, peanut butter and jelly on soft white bread, and yogurt. In addition, his severe periodontal disease is a potential health threat as bacteria from his mouth could travel via his bloodstream to his heart and cause heart disease or even lead to a stroke. Dana works full time as a valued restaurant front desk host, but does not have dental insurance or the money to cover the extensive dental work that he needs. His quality of life is suffering badly. Getting proper nourishment under these circumstances is challenging, not to mention that it has been frustrating for him to have to live on a liquid diet. My heart breaks for him. Dana has his first appointment with the dental surgeon on Tuesday, October 27th. Dental work is very expensive. We estimate that the cost of removing all of his teeth and the cost of the dentures will total anywhere from $6,500 to $8,000. Please help my friend Dana by donating whatever you can afford. We would be so very grateful. Please help Dana to eat solid food again. Please help him to smile again.
