My name is Leah Faulkner. I am thirty-eight years old. I am a wife and a mother and I need help to retake control of my life. Five years ago a series of incidents at work cost me most of the use of my left leg and left me in constant intense pain with few medications I can tolerate that are capable of helping. I have lost most of my mobility and a lot of my independence. My mental health suffers and I am unsure how much longer I can go on like this. At this point I have exhausted my treatment options and am left with only one option surgery. Thankfully living in Canada the cost of the procedure and aftercare is covered, but unfortunately due to all the time I miss at work due to my injury I do not have the paid time off to cover my recovery or the few other expenses associated with the surgery. I am not adept at asking for help. Historically when I have asked for help things have not worked out for me. But I have to try. Without this surgery my life will continue to be an endless cycle of suffering. This surgery will change my life for the better. It will help me get back to being myself again. It will let me live again rather than just existing. I should get the date for my surgery in a few weeks, but without the funds to cover the recovery time I cannot book the procedure so I am running out of time. If I reject the surgery date I get placed back in the queue and could have to wait months for another chance. I am grateful for any help anyone can offer even if it's just sharing the fundraiser.
