Hello everyone, my name is Jessica Lechuga and I am fundraising for my sister Christina Pakowitz (aka Christina Guerra). My sister Christina was diagnosed with lung cancer on July 12th, 2024. She will be undergoing surgery to remove the malignant mass on her right lung along with 50% of her healthy lung tissue, to ensure the cancer does not spread. Christina may need radiation therapy (chemo) following surgery depending on her margin results. Christina has been battling respiratory illness causing her to be out of work for almost a year due to her ongoing medical treatments and relentless testing to locate the cause. Christina has been misdiagnosed on multiple occasions making this journey even more stressful and thus prolonging the time she could have been receiving proper treatment. Christina is a 37 year old, non-smoking, 3rd grade teacher! My sister and her husband are newlyweds, just starting their lives together and planning to start their family. Christina and Charlie now have to battle the biggest battle any married couple, let alone newlyweds can battle - cancer of their spouse. The donations from this go fund me will be used to off-set costs from unexpected or uncovered medical expenses for Christina’s cancer treatments. Additionally, as aforementioned my sister has been out of work for almost a year (and will continue to be out to work as she heals from surgery & receives treatments), making a household that used survive off of two incomes, have to solely survive off of one.
