Hi, my name is Carter, and I am seeking support on behalf of my mom and myself. I am a senior at Clark University, and I have had the great privilege of pursuing my passions in higher ed: studio art and education. I plan on obtaining a master’s through Clark’s fifth-year program to become an art teacher. I believe in art as a healing practice and an important form of self-expression. I want to share the joy of creating and connecting with others through art. Unfortunately, I am not able to pay the balance on my bill for the upcoming spring semester. I come from a low-income family with no college funds saved, and there is no more scholarship money left to help with these costs. I would really like to avoid taking out private student loans on top of the loans I have with the federal government. By helping me raise $5000, I would be able to pay off my tuition, as well as buy the necessary materials and supplies for the semester. My mom, Young, has had to work for my whole life. So much that I didn’t get to see her much growing up. At 66, she is still working to ensure sufficient funds for retirement. She has arthritis, and she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in November 2024. These conditions have made knee replacement surgery a necessity. Even with insurance, there are costs for all the doctor visits, the surgery itself, and physical therapy in the weeks after. By raising $10,000, she would be able to take the full time off she needs to recover from the surgery, providing support to get groceries and stay on top of bills. My mom is one of the most hardworking people I know, and I would love for her to be taken care of–for her to be able to heal and rest. Together, our financial needs come to $15,000. I know it is a lot, but I am grateful for any support we can get. Thank you!
