Our 10-year old son Caleb has lived with severe life-threatening anaphylactic peanut allergy since he was 18 months old. He has had two anaphylactic reactions requiring use of epinephrine, hospital stays and close monitoring.  The reactions have the potential to be worse each time they happen. This has caused us to be constantly hyper aware of what he is eating, where it has come from, and where it was prepared because many seemingly innocent foods have potential to be cross-contaminated with peanut. It has been a source of anxiety for him, socially, when so many events/school functions/family gatherings center around meals and treats. Although we have adapted to work our lives around it, the possibility of a fatal reaction is always still at the forefront of our minds.  We recently learned of a program that can help him achieve food freedom and allow him to eat any foods he wants, without fear, for the rest of his life!! It is a program tailored to each child’s unique immune response to certain food proteins, and involves a process of re-training their immune system. The program will also desensitize him to other foods that are causing him to live with chronic eczema as well. This is HUGE for him! It’s the only one in the entire country, and it happens to be just over an hour away from us!! Unfortunately our insurance will not cover this 2 to 3-year program that costs tens of thousands of dollars. We are about $6,000 short of our goal of being able to afford this program and we decided it is time to reach out for help! We are so thankful that God has given us this opportunity to improve our son’s life, and even more thankful for any help we can get along the way.  If you can’t donate money, prayers are also needed for him along this journey, as it will be a long process filled with daily challenges and lots of work for us to do every single day!  Please check out foodallergyinstitute.com for more information about this one of a kind life-changing program and the 8,000+ children they have already helped to achieve remission from life-threatening food allergies. I will also be updating with his progress here and on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100092491879368&mibextid=LQQJ4d Thank you again for joining Caleb on this amazing journey to food freedom that will officially begin on 8/28!! ❤️
