Hi everyone :’) my name is Basil. I’m a 23 year old mixed-Filipino man who, unfortunately, has had the worst year of his life this past year and is really looking forward to the relief of top surgery. My father died in October of 2024 which (tbh) has really fucked me up. My household income has dropped dramatically (my mom only gets paid so much working as a parapro for special needs kids) and we got kind of screwed over with my dad’s life insurance. I’ve been looking forward to getting top surgery amid everything, and I’d really appreciate any help I could get paying for surgery + travel expenses in these trying times. I was scheduled for surgery in June, but thanks to Florida’s new cool transphobic laws (thanks DeSantis!!!) I’ve had to reschedule to Minnesota which is much further away, meaning there’s suddenly a lot of travel and housing expenses I wasn’t previously accounting for. I checked with the hospital if there was charity care or financial aid I could apply for, but apparently cosmetic surgery is a category that isn’t really covered by that (also cool). I’ve been on the fence for a while asking for financial help through fundraisers, but I decided I might as well reach out to the community. It’s felt like there has just been roadblock after roadblock, and everything this past year has worn me down so much. At this point I’ve got nothing to lose. Anyway, I appreciate you even just reading this far, and I am so incredibly thankful for any donations that come through. I’m literally shaking as I type this, so I won’t say much else.
