Dear friends, family, and extended community, My name is Rachel, and I have the pleasure of being a close friend of the Wiggins family. I am reaching out to you with a request for your kindness and support during a challenging season for Baby Alora. At just three months old, sweet Alora is scheduled to undergo a critical lung surgery next month. This procedure is essential for her well-being and overall quality of life. To ensure that the Wiggins family can fully focus on Alora's recovery without the added stress of financial burdens, I have created a LFEBridge campaign. It is my hope that this campaign will serve as a convenient platform for all of you who would like to contribute and help alleviate some of the expenses they are currently facing. Your generosity and support would mean the world to the Wiggins family. By pitching in, you will be making a direct impact on Baby Alora's journey toward a healthy and happy life. Let's rally together and show them the power of a caring community! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your consideration and support. Alora’s Story: Alora’s medical journey began long before her birth. During Jenni's pregnancy, a routine ultrasound revealed a concerning finding - a congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM) affecting Alora’s developing lungs. This news began the high-risk path of the rest of the pregnancy, which involved bi-weekly ultrasounds, and the formation of a team of doctors and surgeons ready to intervene as necessary depending on how the CPAMs developed. The possibilities ranged from the development of hydrops fetalis which has a high fetal and maternal mortality rate and often requires in utero surgery, to maybe the CPAMS just disappearing on their own, and being no problem at all- and the CT scan performed just weeks ago confirmed that in Alora’s case, the situation has landed somewhere in between. The Diagnosis and Treatment: CPAM is a rare condition in which abnormal lung tissue forms, impacting the lung's ability to function properly. Jenni and Chris have been consulting with a team of medical experts who have recommended surgical intervention to give Alora the best chance at a normal, healthy life. Essentially, the cysts have fully covered the upper third lobe of Alora’s left lung, so the pediatric surgery team will be laparoscopically performing a lobectomy. The remaining lobes are expected to grow to fill that void, providing necessary functional lung tissue where there currently is none. Following the surgery, a tube which will be inserted between her ribs will remain in place until there is a certainty that no air or fluid remains where it does not belong. While this upcoming lung surgery is daunting for Alora’s family, the good news is that the doctors expect her to make a full recovery, and do not expect the cysts to return! Expenses and Financial Impact: The financial strain on Alora’s family has already begun. The costs associated with the surgery, including pre-operative assessments, hospital stays, medications, and aftercare, are significant. While some of these medical expenses are covered by insurance, many are not. The Wiggins are going through an incredibly tough time right now, as they brace for this heart-wrenching experience necessary for their child's well-being. It is my desire to provide them with a safety net during this trying period, ensuring they can be fully present for Alora’s needs without the added burden of financial worries. How You Can Help: No family should face such challenges alone. If you can, please consider contributing to support Baby Alora and her family through this difficult journey. Your moral support is equally invaluable. Please share Alora’s story with your friends, families, and extended communities to help increase support and raise awareness about her situation. With your help, we can make a significant difference in Alora’s life and her family’s peace of mind during the surgery and recovery process. Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to ensuring a smooth recovery for this sweet little soul! On behalf of the Wiggins family, I express the deepest gratitude for your love, compassion, and financial support during this challenging time. Together, we can help Baby Alora breathe easy. With love, Rachel
