Hi, my name is Emma, I am a friend of Andrea Medford and this fundraiser has been set up on behalf of her parents, Andy and Caddy Medford who live in Barbados. At the end of 2024, Andy had what was diagnosed as a benign lump in his neck. The doctors tried medication to shrink it but this was not very successful. In May 2024 they decided to perform minor surgery to remove it but once the procedure began, they found the mass to be twice the size they had determined and suddenly this became major surgery for an almost 80 year old man. Andy has been in recovery for several weeks now, with damage to his vocal chords as well as his age this has been slow going. The mass was sent off for testing to the US and we received the devastating news that it was indeed Lymphoma. The doctors want to start treatment next week but with outstanding bills from the surgery, scans, bloodwork, biopsies and medication over $8000 and a further $8000 required up front for the first treatment and no definitive answers as to how many treatments will be required, we find ourselves in the difficult position to ask for help urgently so we do not delay the start of chemotherapy. This of course is very scary for all of the family, especially Caddy. As anyone who knows Caddy knows she was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) 30 years ago and has been bedridden for 6 years. With Andy as her primary caregiver and constant companion, this diagnosis presents multiple hurdles for them. Not only do we hope to raise the funds necessary for the cancer treatment, but we also need to get additional care for Caddy on an ongoing basis as we know it will not be possible for Andy to continue in the same capacity moving forward. We are desperately seeking the help of our family and friends to help raise these funds so that we can ensure they both get the care they need. Please help us by donating, sharing, liking, encouraging your friends to donate. We need your help. Thank you all in advance for your kind generosity. We appreciate it very much. Emma
