We are raising money to support our amazing friend Andrew Shumaker (affectionately called Staxx) as he fights his battle with multiple myeloma. Life unexpectedly changed for Andrew on May 29th, 2024. After becoming unemployed after losing sight and hearing on the left side, he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. It then became clear that the loss of sight and hearing was due to the undetected multiple myeloma. Through scans, the doctor was able to find a 2 " mass on the base of his skull, resulting in vision and hearing impairment. Multiple Myeloma is an extremely rare form of cancer (of the plasma) that has no cure. Since his diagnosis, Andrew has been receiving life-saving treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He has been in and out of the hospital for treatment, and care as he battles with the side effects of chemotherapy. Andrew is the father of 3 beautiful children and an amazing wife who remains by his side during this season. If you have been fortunate enough to meet Staxx, you will know that his strong, loving, and positive personality will allow him to continue fighting strongly throughout his treatment. With his family and loved ones by his side, we are all confident that he will beat this and continue to be the outstanding person we know and love. All funds raised through this program will be used to finance Andrew’s treatment throughout his battle with cancer, as well as personal/family expenditures that will be inflicted due to his extended care regimen.
