My sister, Amber Russell, is the kind of person who is always looking for ways to help others. She is an amazing example of service and friendship and will do anything to help someone in need. Amber is the cutest little mom to 3 kids, an amazing wife, sister, daughter and best friend to all who meet her! She has the best sense of humor and makes everyone around her feel loved and appreciated. About 4 years ago Amber started getting sick. She was diagnosed with several different auto-immune diseases, the ones affecting her most were psoriatic arthritis, lymphocytic colitis and fibromyalgia. Over the last 4 years, Amber’s health has continued to decline. Between her doctors and different specialists, she has had countless blood work done and has tried so many different medications and treatments, different procedures and numerous injections to try and find some sort of relief. At times she would start to feel a bit better but then things would take a turn for the worse or she would develop new symptoms. She developed chronic debilitating pain and was constantly sick. About 4 months ago Amber’s health took an extreme turn for the worse. She became so sick she started having muscle tremors, she would shake and lose control of her muscles and would have a hard time walking, even when using a cane. She lost all sense of the life she used to have. Because of increased chronic pain and weakness, she would spend most of her time in bed sleeping. She had to stop her favorite hobbies and activities because she physically couldn’t do them anymore. Her amazing husband and kids stepped up and took over the cooking and cleaning and other day-to-day activities she used to be able to do. Her quick change in health began to result in changes in her mental health resulting in extreme anxiety, depression and additional neurological changes. She recently had a friend recommend her to an alternative doctor who, after some tests, was able to determine she had Lyme disease. She has been referred to a Lyme disease specialist who is thankfully able to help treat her disease so that she can start to feel better. Treatments will mainly consist of IV Therapy and immune-boosting medications. The needed treatments are very costly and time-consuming. Unfortunately, chronic Lyme disease is not recognized by the CDC so insurance will not cover any of the treatments. Most of the treatments need to be paid for upfront. Past medical bills have already been a financial strain on Amber and Brady, so, coming up with the finances needed now to start treatments is not something they can do. I run a small business and will be having sales over the next few weeks and contributing to proceeds for my sister’s treatments, however, as much as I wish I could, I can’t raise all of the funds needed on my own. I know that any contribution, no matter the size, will help and will make an incredible difference in my sister's life. Even if you’re not able to contribute financially, I would love for you to help by sharing. Thank you so much for all of the prayers and love that has already been shown to Amber and her family.
