My name is Lutrelle, and I live in Denver, CO. I'm looking for a bridge until I can get employment. At 83 there aren't many opportunities. Even if there were, the job market here is very tight for the office jobs I'm competing for. Not to be dramatic, but what keeps me alive and healthy are my cat, my neighborhood and my little 520 equare foot apartment. I am absolutely terrified of losing it all. I don't think I would survive the street. I want to work as I have done since I was 19 years old. In the past year I have been trying to find permanent work. I have been using every way I can to find openings. I even went downtown to try and take my resume door to door. That wasn't successful because I couldn't get past security to go to the floors. I've sent hundreds of resumes. I've had a few interviews and feel very down on myself for not having one work out. Last year I had a temporary job as interim manager for housing for the formerly homeless. I loved the job, and the tenants seemed to reciprocate. When it came down to hiring, however, managers within the company, a coworker and even the tenants themselves said I didn't get hired because of my age. I'm trying to find that one employer who will give me a chance to show what a good worker I am. I have great skills, a proven work ethic and good references. What I need is time -- and money -- to fund my search. Please help. Thank you.
