I'm posting this LFEBridge on behalf of my neighbor Simon Luong. Simon was brought to the USA by his parents as a teenager, fleeing the Vietnam War. Now in his 60s, various illnesses - both physical (gout, glaucoma, gastrointestinal issues that trap him in the bathroom for several hours a day...) and mental (OCD...) - have left him in a precarious state, without a job or significant support from his family. California Medicaid helps, but only to an extent... and one thing Medicaid won't help him with is his increasingly damaged teeth. Many of his teeth are missing, and more are rotted and on their last legs. The insurance covers removing them, but not replacing them with anything, which is a necessity for someone without the facilities or able-bodiedness to cook for himself (and who, thus, has to rely on fast food more often than not). The dentist has quoted $35,000 for proper dental implants that will get his mouth back to a good state. So I'm turning to you all, online, to help him reach that goal. If we get past $35k, any further money will go to pay for glaucoma medicine. He's lost one eye already, and keeping the other requires a regimen of expensive eyedrops that aren't always covered by Medicaid; any help to ease the burden of that bill would be a big help too. Thank you for reading.
