MAJOR UPDATE - It breaks our hearts to inform you all Jaymz passed away at the start of March after a hard battle, thank you to all who contributed to his journey. Help 26 year old Jaymz beat stage 4 bowel cancer Jaymz embarked on the journey of his life in April 2024, he was leaving his friends and family, moving away from the rural town of Maryborough and moving across country to start his next chapter working at Ayers rock resort. Jaymz was settled, he was enjoying his work, he was working towards being the most healthy and happy version of himself. Our family took comfort when we missed him that he was happy, he had got out of his comfort zone and he was loving it. Approximately 6 weeks ago Jaymz started experiencing some abdominal discomfort and irregular bowel movements, he kept working and pushed on until he thought a second opinion from the drs was for the best. The doctors prescribed antibiotics and we all put it down to a stomach flu, believing he’d be better in a few days. Around two weeks ago Jaymz’ stomach pain was so severe and he started vomiting blood, Jaymz knew he needed to call emergency services. The emergency services were helpful enough to open up the local clinic in their small town, they quickly determined that the symptoms Jaymz was experiencing were outside of the means of the local clinic and he was airlifted to Alice Springs Hospital. The doctors there found a cancer mass in his bowel. Meanwhile back at home, we felt so helpless trying to get a flight for his mother to be there with him, he was alone, in pain and was afraid. Jaymz needed emergency surgery where half of his bowel needed to be removed. Thankfully our prayers had been answered and his mother Danielle had managed to get a flight, she was able to be there for when Jaymz woke up. Fortunately the surgery went well and they were able to remove the entire mass, unfortunately they found evidence that the cancer has spread in his body. This week we had the results, at age 26, Jaymz was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. The diagnosis was shocking to Jaymz and his family, the symptoms came on so quickly. Jaymz will be treated at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, next week we will be looking more into the cancer, how it has mutated, where it has spread and coming up with an action plan for treatment. This is where you can help! Asking for help is not something we take lightly, we have always gone about our life making it on our own, however, we know that the expenses are adding up quickly, they have only just begun and are unfortunately outside of our means. If you feel like you want to be part of Jaymz’ journey and could help by donating, we would really appreciate your help so we can tackle this next phase of the journey and kick cancers ass together. Money raised will first and foremost go towards; travelling to and from Melbourne for medical treatments, affording medical treatments, medications, specialty dietary requirements and associated cancer related expenses.
