Our lovely sister Ligaya (Ms. P’Chez) Williams needs help from friends! She is dear to me and has inspired me many times to keep moving forward. The company she works so hard for is not accommodating her after the injury. P’Chez deserves better and needs the time to heal. - Geri H. From Ms. P’Chez: I was working for a big company that ships very high volumes of merchandise daily. I worked there for over two years and was one of the highest-ranking employees in production. I also trained new hires and retrained safety violators as well as motivate lower producers. One day I fell at work because my safety shoe got stuck inside the opening of a pallet. Already having osteoarthritis, I am used to living with pain, but I could manage. This fall totally changed my life because it caused my meniscus to tear, so my knee swells bigger than a grapefruit. Thanks to workers compensation, I have been waiting for surgery for over 8 months. This has caused the other knee to swell as well and now my wrist because I walk with a cane. My job won’t find a position to accommodate me, and the insurance workers comp was providing stopped 90 days ago. The insurance won’t start up again until I have a surgery date, which keeps getting delayed. At home, my family consists of a 16-year-old son, Kaz and my 5-year-old cat, Soxx. We need help with groceries, plus rent and bills for the next couple of months so that these surgeries will be successful and without being homeless in the process. Nothing can be too big or too small at this point. Asking for help is difficult for me but in my experience, life is better when I do.
