Dear friends, family, and supporters, Our Goal: We are reaching out to you with open hearts and an important goal - to bring our beloved family together for a once-in-a-lifetime reunion and help our high school students make it to the next level by setting up an education fund. Whether you are a part of our extended family or someone who believes in family, we invite you to be a part of this special occasion. Our Story: We are the descendants of George Hays and Bernice Luceal Holden Hays from Arkansas and Mississippi. The family, seeking a better life, moved from the South to Nebraska and then on to California where—at one point—they lived in a tent but eventually settled in the Los Angeles area where they pitched in and built the family home. Our family has always cherished the values of love, unity, and togetherness. However, as the years went by and elders passed, life's obligations, unexpected obstacles and distances have kept us apart and sometimes when this happens, families can drift apart. This happens in families, and we acknowledge that it happened to us to the point where many cousins don’t know one another. Many of us long for the warmth, laughter, and joy that can only come from being surrounded by our loved ones. This is why we have decided to organize our very first family reunion, a joyful event that will catalyze building new memories, strengthening old bonds and the ties that make us who we are - a strong, united, and loving family. The Details: We have family traveling to California from Georgia, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, and New York. We have raised a little over $4000 and with 2 weeks to go, we’ve trimmed and cut the budget and need just a boost to meet our goal. At our reunion, we plan to host a Mixer and Youth Gathering, a Family Tree presentation by our Griot, Saturday BBQ, Family Conversation on Building Family Wealth, and start an education fund for the younger generation so they can get much-needed support after high school, and a Sunday Family Breakfast. It will be 3 fun and celebratory days! By supporting our family reunion, you are contributing not just to an event but to a movement that celebrates the power of family and connection and supports the next generation. How You Can Help: 1. Financial Support: Our main expenses are in these areas; remaining costs for the hotel rental($2100), food and beverages for Friday’s Mixer & Youth Gathering ($700), a welcome packet for each attendee and other necessary expenses ($200). Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to our goal. 2.
