If you told me that I would ever be able to go study abroad for Biology in Australia, I would never believed you, but I am! Unfortunately for Biology majors, it is very difficult for us to study abroad for a semester and still get all of the required courses finished. So when I received a pamphlet for a two week course over winter break I immediately started getting more information and applying. Unfortunately, I was put on the wait list with little hope of getting in to the program. I had honestly given up, but then I got an email saying that too many people were unable to pay the first payment and I had been accepted to the program! I know that this was definitely an act of God as I had been praying about whether or not this trip was for me. I also found out that this course would allow me to finish my major and open up my final semester at Georgetown for some pre requisites for Optometry school that I am behind on. That being said, this trip is not cheap by any means, and I need help coming up with at least half of the final payment which is what this 2,000$ will go to. Not only will this be an amazing experience, I will learn so much and it will also set me apart when I begin applying for Optometry school. Here is a description for the trip provided by the organization that I will be going with:"Experience the wonderful world of "down under" on the CCSA Australian Ecosystems Program and help to preserve habitat for one of its most unusual species: the koala. On this smallest, most temperate of continents, where flora and fauna are both diverse and unique, and native Aboriginal culture blends European with Asian, participants can explore the richness of a world apart. Join CCSA and snorkel World Heritage reefs, trek through rain forests near tropical Cairns, discover the museums, gardens and parks around metropolitan Melbourne, Australia's second largest city and home to some of the continent's largest communities of penguins, seals, kangaroos and koalas, among whom participants will participate in a conservation service project."Any small amount counts, and thank you ahead of time for supporting me!
