We are asking for any support that you can give to help our friend and co-worker. Hannah has been a paramedic with Niagara Emergency Medical Services for the past six years and became a firefighter/member of the Waterloo Professional Firefighters Association a year and a half ago. She happily balances both jobs to help support her family, but also to serve the Niagara and Waterloo communities as an empathetic, capable first responder. Her passion is to help others, but now she needs our support as well. Hannah was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer and has to take time off of work for treatment. Unfortunately, Hannah hasn’t accrued much sick time yet in her full-time firefighting position, so we are reaching out to ask friends, family, and the communities that she serves for help. We appreciate anything and everything that you can contribute. This LFEBridge will help cover any expenses that result from Hannah’s treatment. The money will be necessary to cover healthy meals, travel expenses for doctor’s appointments, medical equipment, medicine, and much more. With recent advances in targeted therapy, specialists can now target specific proteins associated with Hannah’s form of cancer, however, this comes with a significant cost and is not covered through insurance programs—these costs will be tens of thousands of dollars. All of the donations will go directly to Hannah to help alleviate the financial burden that goes along with this disease. The elimination of stress will be so important during Hannah’s course of treatment and will hopefully help improve her prognosis. We are so appreciative of the support from everyone—let’s see what we can do to help!
