Last year my brother was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus, after a long battle, a lot of treatment and a massive surgery we got the news that the cancer had been removed and he got the all clear. Throughout the journey we felt that the Beatson institute were incredible with helping not only my brother but the whole family with any questions or concerns we had. I will be running the Aintree Half-Marathon in order to raise funds for this fantastic organisation. Although my family have been extremely lucky there are many patients and families who aren’t, I am not only doing this for Matthew or my family, I am doing this for every single person who has ever been/will ever be impacted by this horrible illness.
