My name is Andrea and I am raising money for my sister and brother-in-law, Christina and Tyler. Christina was diagnosed with the most severe form of preeclampsia called HELLP. This made the doctors perform an emergency c-section to deliver their son, Griffin, 15 weeks early. Griffin is now placed in the NICU and will stay there, growing, for the next few months. Please consider donating money to help Christina and Tyler pay for financial responsibilities, medical bills, and daily needs as Griffin is healing and growing. Below are updates from Christina regarding her and Griffin's healing progress. July 20 Our sweet baby boy, Griffin Wayne Vaught, was born by emergency c-section this morning, July 20th weighing 1lb 8oz. I very quickly developed a severe and life-threatening form of preeclampsia that forced us to deliver early. Overall, we’re doing okay. I’m already feeling better and Griffin is as strong and healthy as he can be at 24 weeks. Right now we’re all recovering and thanking God that I came to the ER when I did. If I would’ve waited, things would’ve quickly taken a turn for the worse and the outcome would be much different. We’ve already been surrounded by so much family and support that it’s overwhelming to think how many people we have standing in our corner. At this point I just ask that you pray and send us all the good vibes we can get. It’s going to be a long road ahead but I know our little guy is a spicy little fighter! July 22 Our “tiny dude” is 25 weeks today and is doing great! Doctors are pleased with his progress and he’s just as wiggly on the outside as he was on the inside. The NICU nurses are some of the kindest people we’ve ever met and we are so grateful for them. Tyler was able to help change his diapers and they are the smallest things you’ve ever seen. I'm doing much better and they’re getting my blood pressure under control. I had a very rare syndrome called “HELLP” syndrome that apparently only happens in one out of every 1,000 pregnancies. It’s a type of preeclampsia that progresses even farther and puts mother at risk of stroke and liver failure. It was definitely a scary moment but we had an amazing team of doctors that made those tough decisions that saved both of our lives. At this point they’re hoping to send me home on Monday. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with words of support and encouragement. July 23 Griffin is doing great. Apparently, he’s surprisingly big for a 25 weeker and that gives him some extra strength. He’s super wiggly and active and we love going down to the NICU to visit him whenever we can. July 26 Griffin is still doing great. They’ve been able to reduce the amount of oxygen support he’s getting because his lungs are breathing more on their own, and he’s gaining weight at a great pace. They’ve been able to increase his feedings several times because he’s doing so well. The NICU nurses say that he’s feisty and spicy, and he’s not afraid to tell them when they’re doing something he doesn’t like. He’s our little miracle baby. July 29 Our tiny dude is now 26 weeks! He loves sleeping on his belly and he’s growing some hair on his head. Everyday he’s getting stronger and breathing more and more on his own. They’re hoping to wean him off of the ventilator very soon!
