Hi, I’m Alex. I’m writing this on behalf of Randa who is my boss but more importantly my friend. She has the kind of story you have to sort of rack your brain to figure out how someone could face so much adversity. You hear about these things on a talk show or extreme home makeover. It’s hard to believe when it happens to someone close to you. First, I’ll start by saying Randa is the kind of person who makes sure everyone else is fine before herself. She is truly one of the kindest people I have ever met. She puts her family’s needs first every time. That’s why when she was asked to raise her three nieces and nephews in June she never even hesitated because she knew it was what needed to be done. Randa’s mother was the guardian of three of her grandchildren before she passed away this July. Randa’s mother was first diagnosed with cancer in June leaving little time for Randa to prepare to take over guardianship. Randa is already the mother of four school-aged children and is now taking on three more. Randa’s mother, nieces and nephew lived in Greenwood and Randa lives and works in Greenville. To not uproot grieving children, they are staying at their home in Greenwood so they can stay in the same school. The house in Greenwood is not big enough for everyone so Randa’s kids are staying in Greenville and Randa is dividing her time between both households, trying to be a super mom at both. Randa and her husband both work full time but finances are significantly stretched keeping up two households and feeding 7 teenagers. Randa previously worked a second job but is no longer able to while keeping up with a two+ hour commute every day along with the work required to run two households and raise 7 children. As reluctant as she is to ask for help, she needs the community’s help to get through until she can get back on her feet. Funds raised will go towards things the family is struggling with like: -Utility bills and necessary repairs for her mother’s house in Greenwood -Grocery trips to feed the kids -School activity costs like Beta Club, cheerleading etc. -Gas for Randa’s commute back and forth Every little bit helps. Thanks so much for reading and supporting Randa in this difficult time. She is a fighter and I know she will pull through she just needs a little help right now!
