On behalf of Mount Prospect community in North Potomac we are fundraising for Grant Deckert, who services many of our yards, keeping them in tip top shape. Grant was admitted to Frederick Memorial Hospital on July 15th due to prolonged flu-like symptoms. His condition continued to worsen and soon needed to be transported to MedStar Georgetown Hospital’s ICU on July 17th. While there, the infectious disease doctors were able to diagnose him with Babesia, a blood disease carried by ticks, and begin treatment. Being that he is immunocompromised (Asplenia and Diabetic) he was in serious condition. After a week of transfusions, antibiotics, and care, he is in stable condition and was moved out of the ICU on July 22nd. All his levels and tests are trending in the right direction and will have a slow recovery ahead of him. As of July 27th, he is off oxygen and will start Physical Therapy, all very good steps for him to work up to his eventual discharge. We are raising funds for Grant to use to pay for medical expenses that his insurance won't cover.
