“The world may not change if you adopt a child, but for that child their world will change.” -unknown Hello, we are Jordan & Season Gosnell. We have been married for over 12 years and have a 7-year-old daughter named Juniper. Now we are hoping to add another child to our family through an adoption from Vietnam and are asking our community for support. Seven years ago, we happily welcomed our beautiful daughter, Juniper, via infant adoption. While now we would not change a thing – prior to adopting Juniper, we faced significant challenges having children. Season went through multiple rounds of unsuccessful medical treatments for pregnancy. Foregoing more invasive medical therapy, we enrolled in an Ethiopian adoption program. However, once we were established in the program (and had paid significant program fees), the Ethiopia closed the program. In the end those disappoints were transformed into great joy when we welcomed Juniper home. Now we are hoping to grow our family again through adoption – this time from Vietnam. Why Vietnam you may ask? Our answer is – Why not? Vietnam has an established, credible, and Hague Convention accredited program. Also, it is one of the few countries that our family qualifies to adopt from. In case you didn’t know, each country has its own set of prerequisites that an adoptive family must meet. Lastly, like in most countries, there are Vietnamese children in need of families. Over the past year we have explored domestic foster to adopt programs – however, we found after exploring these programs that they did not fit our family at this time. Adoption is needed because of the inherent brokenness in this world. Frankly, we wish that there was no need for adoptive families. Adoption involves significant costs to both families and adoptive children – emotional & mental costs, sacrifice of time, and financial burden. We currently are in the process of completing our home study. Honestly, we will be facing a significant financial burden with this adoption. The estimated total cost of the adoption is $40,000 – $50,000. We have already paid several thousand dollars in initial program fees and our church has supported us by paying for most of our home study. As it stands, once our home study is completed, we need to pay a $10,028 fee to submit our dossier to Vietnam. Once submitted, we will have an 18 – 24 month wait for placement of a child. We are hoping to adopt a little girl who is 4 – 7 years of age and are open to some types of special needs. However, we can’t be considered for placement until our dossier is submitted to Vietnam. We are hoping this Go Fund Me fundraiser will provide the jump start for our family to get on the waiting placement list as soon as possible. Would you please consider supporting us? It is incredibly humbling to ask for help in this way, yet your support is so, so needed. After this stage of the process, we hope to apply for grants and explore fundraising opportunities to cover for whatever fees beyond the support raised here. We are happy to answer any questions if you’d like to reach out. Please feel free to share this with your families, friends, coworkers, and anyone else who may possibly have an interest in supporting us. Thank you for your time and consideration. ♡ Jordan, Season, & Juniper “We do not need to know the beginning of a child’s story to change the ending.”
