UPDATE: Amanda would like to thank everyone who has donated. Your donations have helped cover treatment, housing, and grocies. Amanda is hoping to return to work in mid-October. Until then she is continuing treatment for severe Anorexia. She has been in outpatient treatment since leaving residential treatment in July. Unfortunately, recovery is not linear and so along with her ED therapist, Amanda is stepping back up to Intensive Outpatient Treatment which means three mornings a week for 6 hours a day. Treating eating disorders is, at best, incredibly challenging. Your compassion and support are making a difference in helping Amanda fight to recover. Amanda is a local mother of 3 who has fought many private health battles and is currently fighting another. She has been successfully living in recovery from Bipolar for many years, even going so far as to speak at conferences and in the media about her battles. During the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, Amanda founded and led the development of a local food pantry, which still helps hundreds of community members today. She is a survivor of suicide loss with lived experience, and has developed and facilitated support groups for suicide loss survivors and suicide attempt survivors. In the spring of 2024 Amanda suffered a neck injury requiring surgery, and has struggled since then with severe chronic pain. Despite doing her best, the pain and trauma resulted in Amanda being hospitalized twice in February 2024 and again in April 2024, with both physical pain and the consequences of a severe (and until then undiagnosed) eating disorder. She's currently receiving intensive treatment to manage the three disorders and needs support to continue both inpatient and outpatient treatment for an unknown length of time. The Stein family has accrued many financial burdens combined with a lengthy loss of income, and will continue to incur them in the upcoming months. Amanda and her family have given so much to the community, and now it's our turn to give back what we can.
