My name is Jodi Miklas. I am the proud mother of two wonderful adult children. My husband and I are establishing this LFEBridge to help cover the costs of a medically necessary procedure for our daughter to donate a kidney to her little brother. Insurance coverage for this procedure has been refused. Janalyn's surgical procedure date is July 25, 2024, and because it is not covered by our insurance, we must raise the funds to prepay UVA Health by Friday, July 14, 2024. This procedure is a lifesaving measure for Caleb and will ensure a designated kidney transplant. Because his sister is the donor, he is guaranteed her kidney. Caleb is 22 years old and is currently in stage four kidney failure. Recently, his doctor advised him to prepare for dialysis and a kidney transplant. Dialysis will begin in the fall of 2024 and will continue until he and his sister are medically ready to complete the transplant. Caleb's dialysis would be three days a week, at the University of Virginia Lynchburg Dialysis Clinic, and would last for four hours each session. Once he begins this journey of dialysis, there is no return until his transplant. It is of the utmost importance that this LFEBridge fully funds the cost of the donor’s medically necessary procedure, and can be confirmed by the deadline, Friday, July 14, 2024. You are not just giving money, you are giving life.
