Hello my friends, This is Qian here and I am a special education teacher at a Title 1 School in Alexandria, Virginia. I haven't been home since 2018 and haven't seen my Mom in-person since 2019 due to Covid. Finally, when I got to go home this June, I was very excited to see her again. However, the first thing when I noticed when she came to pick me up was that she lost a lot of weight, seemed very tired and sick. She told me that she hasn't been feeling well so, I urged her to go to the hospital. Much to my dismay, when we went to the hospital after many rounds of testing and waiting, we found out that she is diagnosed with Stage 4, Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. The cancer cells have already spread across her body and due to the complications, she needs to take protein shots and be on oxygen every day. Since the 2nd day of my arrival home, I have been at the hospital every day with my Mom. The doctor recommended at least 6 to 8 times of chemotherapy so, we are now planning to start the treatment with the hopes that she will feel better. I am the only child of my parents and my Dad passed away in 2016 while I was studying here in the US. I never had the chance to take care of him or even say my proper goodbyes. I don't want this to happen again with my Mom so, I am grateful that I am by her side right now. My Mom wakes up around 4am to go to work everyday so that I could have a better life than hers. It is supposed to be my turn to take care of her but I failed to do so as a daughter. It hurts me everyday when I wipe her body and see how skinny she is. However, as a public school teacher, it is difficult to make ends meet, let alone pay for all the hospital bills with my savings. That is why I am doing this fundraising so that I can provide my Mom with everything she needs for her treatment. This is something I never want to happen because my Mom is the only family I have. But, I would be thankful if you could help me out with however much you can, even for a nominal amount. Yours, Qian
