Hi, my name is Erika and for the past 15 months, I have been suffering from the effects of a concussion. The symptoms of a concussion (including persistent headaches, nausea, dizziness, trouble concentrating, sensitivity to noise and light, being easily overstimulated, brain fog, etc) can be relentless and impact every aspect of your daily life. This has been particularly true in my situation. Since my injury, I have seen countless specialists and have done countless treatments, including physiotherapy for both my head and neck, craniosacral therapy, eye appts, and many others, with the hopes of getting my brain back to 100%. While some of the therapies have helped, many have been quite expensive, and have mostly been unsuccessful at getting me back to being fully functional in my day-to-day life. Over the past year, I have done a lot of research on concussions and the different therapies available all across North America. One that stood out to me was Dr. Mickey Collins at the UPMC concussion clinic in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. His clinic is much further ahead than comparable services provided in Canada regarding concussion rehabilitation, and Dr. Collins' clinic has had tremendous success in curing concussions. After much deliberation, I have decided to go ahead and have made an appointment for early September as I believe this will be my best chance for recovery. This specialized treatment is not covered by my provincial health care plan nor my private health insurance. I already have used up a lot of my personal savings to cover earlier treatments, and additionally, I am arranging further financial loans to fund this in hopes that this will be my best chance for recovery. I am excited to get back to living a pain-free life. I would truly appreciate any help to cover the cost of treatment as well as the associated travel/hotel expenses for the trip. I would also like to thank my family and friends for their support over the past year. The reason I am able to do this is because of your continuous support.
