We have started this Go Fund Me for our dear friend Carolyn VanKleek and her daughters Raina and Rilynn. UPDATE: John lost his courageous battle to cancer on Dec 14, 2024. Over the past year battle with aggressive cancer the family has been extremely grateful for the support from loved ones and the community. Since his diagnosis John was determined to fight for his life however there was limitations on medical treatments for his rare and aggressive cancer. Once he was told there is no more treatment available, he kept his positivity and fight to live to the fullest each day with loved ones however, leaving behind his family was difficult for John, his worried about the future of the family without him. John always had life insurance but since starting his own company didn’t have any. The family has asked for in lieu of gifts or flowers a monetary donation would be appreciated through this difficult life transition. OR you can contact organizer if you would like to directly e-transfer to to Carolyn personally. As most of you all may know John has been diagnosed with SCLC stage four cancer which has spread to his liver, lymph nodes and bones. Unfortunately John’s chemo therapy treatment was not successful. They are looking into some other treatments that may offer the family some hope but are very costly. John has a full of life personality and a voice you cannot mistake for anyone else’s. He is a fan favourite as you can hear him cheering on his girls and their teams no matter the sport they are playing. He is a loyal Strathcona Warriors and Ardrossan Bisons fan who loves to get the crowd loud and proud cheering on whatever team he is watching. The Marion family are often seen helping out others even with all that life has thrown at them the last 5 years. Carolyn was able to beat thyroid cancer and Raina had to stop playing her favourite sport, hockey due to multiple blood clots in her lungs. They were reluctant to accept any help because it is easier for them to help others than receive it. However, the family is looking into alternate treatments out of town and this will be a big financial strain. Some have asked: “how they can help”? This will be a great comfort to assist with the challenges they are facing.
