Yesterday Ashleigh was airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital after developing severe complications with her pregnancy. Ash had an emergency cesarean and her twin babies were delivered at 25 weeks. Right now, her babies Willa, 650g and Theodore, 850g are fighting for their lives in Hobart’s NICU. Ash has been through so much trauma, nearly losing her life after experiencing an irrupted blood clot which led to significant blood loss. She is still in hospital being monitored. Ashleigh and her husband Jono are currently separated from their 2 year old Luca, who is back in Leith being looked after by family and friends. Leith is over 4 hours away from Hobart which makes the situation harder and more complicated. Ashleigh and the babies will have to stay in the Royal Hobart Hospital for at least another 4 months and Jono and Luca can’t stay in the hospital with them. The 4+ hour drive to get from their home to the hospital means the coming months will be hard, with their family separated during this traumatic and stressful time. I’ve created this page to raise funds to help them stay together during this tough period. Little Luca needs to be with his mum and dad, and Ash needs her husband and son to be close by during this time. UPDATE*** Funds will also go towards purchasing specialised equipment and technology to support and care for the twins once they are big enough to go home. Due to being micro-premises, the babies will still have a higher health risk than normal, even after they have grown to full term in the NICU humidicrib. We need the twins to stay healthy and safe, and the funds raised will give Ash and Jono piece of mind that as they grow older, they will continue to receive the best medical treatment possible to them, both in hospital and at home. If you’d like to do something to help support Ash and Jono during this time, please do so here ❤️ Ashleigh’s story
