Hi. My name is Kim. Most of you know the medical struggle my mom has had the past 2 years. My beautiful, strong WARRIOR mom Paula, has been through hell and back the past 2 years. With multiple surgeries to her right foot, she had a TMA (transmetatarsal amputation) last year, and that is still healing. She is now having a BKA (below knee amputation) on her LEFT foot as I sit here and write this. She is NOT a diabetic, which most would think the reason for the amputation is, she has vascular issues, poor blood flow to her lower extremeties. Mom has a LONG road ahead of her in the hospital, then to an acute rehab facility for intense physical and occupational therapy. With that being said, once she comes home, our house will need to become more handicap accessible for a wheelchair and such. Our goal is to build a ramp on our back deck so when she does come home, she will be able to get in and out of the house easier. Once shes completely healed, she will have a prosthetic, but thats months away. Now, my dad, a USN veteran, whos health is also declining, would have had the ramp built and all done for when mom comes home. But he cannot do things he used to do. This was not an easy decision for our family to create this LFEBridge page, we are proud people, we work hard for what we have. But at the end of the day, I want to be able to provide my mom an easy way to maneuver around her house once shes home. This is life altering for all involved. Please do not feel obligated. Thank you
