Dear friends and family, I am reaching out to you today on behalf of Julie Colby-Flom. If you know Julie, then there is no explanation needed to describe her. But if you don't, here's a short description. Julie has a heart of gold. She is the type of person you want in your corner when you are struggling or in need. She is a loving mother of two kids. She is a member of the First Responder Family and loves helping/caring for her patients! If there was one word to describe Julie, it's compassion. Julie never asks for help for herself. Now, it's Julie's time to need someone. In October 2024, Julie started having some problems that lead her to see a doctor. After meeting with the doctor and having an evaluation, the doctor said she was young and that they could wait another 6 months to re-evaluate. Julie wasn't comfortable with that and requested more testing. Julie went home, but shortly after, started having more serious problems. The doctor scheduled a colonoscopy the next day. As you can imagine, getting a diagnosis of cancer was devastating. Julie has Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer. After evaluating the options to start fighting cancer, she went through 32 rounds of radiation simultaneously with chemotherapy. Julie had every possible side effect going through this stage of treatment, from blood transfusions, pain management, at-home infusions and utter exhaustion. Because of all the side effects, she was experiencing and the demanding treatment regimen, she was unable to continue working. After the radiation treatments were completed, Julie went through months of chemotherapy infusions and oral, pill forms of chemotherapy. This time she has been incredibly sick, with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, weakness, etc. During her treatment, the doctors do MRIs and CT Scans to keep up with the progress. Unfortunately, one of the CT Scan results came back showing there was a mass in her left breast. The oncologist said it was ok to "watch and wait" to see what happens. Obviously, Julie was not ok with that and requested a biopsy. After a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy, the pathology results came back as being an invasive ductal carcinoma, breast cancer. This cancer is different and not related to the colorectal cancer she is already fighting. It is just the beginning of this second diagnosis. Julie is one of the strongest people I know. She goes along her day with a smile on her face, no one ever knowing the battle she is going through. She doesn't deserve this, no one deserves this. She has already been fighting and continues to fight the first cancer diagnosis and is now facing her second cancer diagnosis. This is a very overwhelming and stressful time for her. We want her to be able to focus on her health and recovery without the additional worry of finances and medical expenses. We are hoping that this LFEBridge will help take some of the financial burden off her. Money raised will go towards living expenses, such as rent, utilities, transportation to/from doctor's appointments, imaging/testing and treatment, insurance deductibles and co-pays. No donation is too small. Please consider sharing this link on your social media accounts or with family and friends that might want to help. We will continue to provide updates whenever possible. Thank you in advance for your generosity and kindness. Your support means the world to us! Let's do our part to make sure she focuses on winning this battle!
