Hello my name is Mia Paillant and I am creating this go fund me on behalf of my spouse Joshua Paillant and our twin daughters who are three years old, Juliette and Ophelia. As some of you may know my husband has a very severe case of lupus. In 2016 when he was diagnosed during flare up that resulted in his heart, kidney, and liver failing due to lupus attacking his organs. He was in the ICU for 30 days while a team of doctors tried to save his life. The treatment plan in 2016 was chemotherapy dialysis, (short term) and various immuno suppressants in order to get lupus activity back down to manageable levels. Josh had been doing well and lupus activity was down, he was in complete remission for 7 years. Unfortunately in the beginning of 2024 we started seeing signs of yet another flare up. Josh began to swell up all over his body (edema) muscle aches, pain, and could barely walk. Mayo Clinic has been taking care of him since the flare up started. We had a kidney biopsy done and found out that the swelling was being caused by an acute kidney injury due to his lupus yet again attacking his kidneys. Despite this we remained hopeful that we would be able to get the lupus under control, the treatment plan was 3 months chemotherapy (second time) and various medications. Despite chemotherapy his kidney function continued to go down and he was placed on dialysis. Our hope was that dialysis would get some of the fluid retention off of his body and take some of the load off of his kidneys and then the kidneys would reboot. Sadly this was not the case He is now at end stage renal failure from lupus nephritis and indefinitely on dialysis until he can receive a kidney transplant. This go fund me is to help our family during this time of need, and to help cover any unforeseen medical expenses/emergencies that may arise. I have applied to donate through a donor program and will be evaluated for approval, in the event that I under go the surgery funds would help mend gaps while Josh and I are recovering. We appreciate everyone who has taken the time to hear our story. Our family is extremely grateful for any funds that this may result in. Thank you all keep us in your prayersThe fight is not over.
