Update 11/08/23: Dad has been 2 months or so without any treatment due to the previous ones not working and insurance refusing the immunotherapy. UTSW financial department finally just said “to hell with them let’s just do it”. Today, Dad is receiving his first dose of immunotherapy. The doctors have told him that this therapy will either work wonders or will make him deteriorate faster, 50/50. Dad said “if there is any chance, give it to me”. So, here we are, getting the immunotherapy. If you want to come visit Dad, please message me or Anita first. This time of year is when the big germs come out & we need to keep him as healthy as possible, so if you are even feeling a little off, please do not stop by until you are healthy and well. We have started disability paperwork to hopefully get Medicaid/SSI due to terminal cancer, but won’t know anything for a few days. Dad is unable to work & has been for some time now. Myself, Anita and the immediate family have been trying to support dad as best as we can, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I know this time of year is tough on most people, so even prayers would work. We all just love him & want him to see and feel it during these tough times. Update 08/23/23: we recently went to the doctor and it was said that dad may not be able to go back to work. The doctor is concerned with the symptoms he is having and thinks the cancer may be growing at a rapid rate now. We are trying a new dosage of chemo to see. He also had a port placed recently for the fluid build up. He sure is being strong through it all! Hi! We are creating a fundraiser for our dad, Chris Vick. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) in December 2024/January 2024. He has been on two different chemos so far & has had many many hospital stays and doctors appointments. The first chemo made him feel great, until it stopped working. The second chemo he had reactions to and since then he has been so weak. He has even had one pin-point radiation treatment. As you know, it gets very pricey to pay all of these life-saving bills! When he isn’t feeling weak, he sometimes can go to work, but right now, that is not the case. He is actively trying, but between the weakness and finding a job he can do, it’s been tough. We are wanting to help fundraise some money for his bills/medical bills/treatments while he cannot work, which his return is unknown right now. If you find it in your heart to help, we would be forever grateful! Prayers work, too!
