You know that person in your life who is the first to volunteer her support and help no matter what challenges she's facing herself? That person who would give you the shirt off her back, and then ask you what else you might need that she could get for you? That person who never lets a stray of any kind -- animal or human -- be hungry or lost? We all know that person: it's Joey Moore-Quinn. If you know Joey, I know you'll agree with me that she's a very special person with a loving and generous spirit. She's also full of courage and grit. No matter how often life gets difficult (and we all know it does!), no matter how often she gets knocked down, she gets right back up and goes to work to solve whatever the problem is, making a joke as she works! Right now she's struggling to be that usual resilient self, but this time she needs our help. Joey was diagnosed with Metastatic invasive ductal carcinoma on January 6th 2024. These last six months have been the battle of Joey's life, for her life. So far she's struggled through 12 out 16 rounds of Chemo, but must discontinue chemotherapy at this time due to the debilitating full-body neuropathy it has caused. To make matters worse, she is allergic to steroids and gets violently ill from the chemo without being able to take the steroids that would help. Treatment to follow is surgery, then 30 rounds of radiation, and then hormone blocking medicines for up to 10 years. Surgery will be scheduled a few weeks from now. Horses are part of Joey's soul. Petra, Bugzie, and Kaianne are currently being boarded at a cost of $1000 a month. Not ideal but necessary, since she can't care for them right now. If you are lucky to know Joey, you have likely been on the back of one of these babies before. I know I have! Because of how sick Joey has been and the kind of care she has needed, her partner, Adam, has been unable to work. He is her primary caregiver during these violent sessions of illness. These two have a dream of having a family together, so they made the decision to freeze embryos in hopes of realizing that dream -- a costly but necessary step to ensure she could eventually carry a child. With living expenses, medical bills, and honoring her commitment to her horses, Joey needs our help!! No donation is too small! I know these are tough times for some of us, but be grateful for your own health, and remember that if the situation were reversed, Joey would give to you, and probably show up with fresh home-made food for you too, as she has done for so many. Joey would never ask this of you, so I am asking for her. Please lighten the load on these two . During these times the last thing anyone should have to stress about is finances. Any small amount you can give will make a difference.
