JAW DROPPING neighbourhood dispute that must come to an end.  Reason: playing music louder than a library. Outrageous!! ‍♀️   You would never think that playing music in your own home would wind you up in court facing costs of up to $750,000 in compensation claims and an injunction preventing you from playing music louder than 45dB (which is the equivalent of a library) This is the nightmare that friends of mine are facing and they need our help to raise money to pay their court fees. They have received a barrage of 100+ police complaints which they were assured by attending officers there had been no laws broken and the music being played was at an acceptable level. When the complaints failed, they were taken to mediation. My friends offered solutions, the others just wanted just silence and a legally binding agreement to state they would not play music over 42 dB!! For those playing along at home below are the dB levels of everyday sounds:  30dB = Whisper nearby  40dB = Quiet Library sounds 50dB = Refrigerator  60dB = Electric toothbrush  80dB = Alarm clock  On an average day they play music around 54 dB. When they refused to sign the agreement they were hit with court proceedings. If that wasn’t enough they’ve had their privacy invaded with phone recordings, surveillance and a device recording their everyday lives. Unable to wash their car on their driveway with a few tunes without scrutiny. Not party loud, not even BBQ loud. How can ANYONE have the right to stop someone from listening to music above library quiet permanently. How can anyone reasonably expect an everyday family to be restricted to such noise levels? My dog barks louder than 45dB. Imagine coming home after a long work day and feeling anxious every single day. Not being able to sleep, not being able to enjoy your weekends with your family & friends. Not feeling comfortable to even get into your car on your driveway knowing you are being recorded. And then to top it off, head back to work and repeat. A restriction on dB sound would mean they cannot ever enjoy a bbq, birthday, graduation, with music louder than library quiet. It’s just not reasonable!! This has to stop. This family is an honest, hard-working, salt of the earth, cup of sugar, shirt off their back family. First in line to help their friends, first in line to put others ahead of themselves.  Please help us raise money to fund their legal fees. We would be so grateful if everyone could donate even $5. It all adds up.
